Tile & flooring material calculators
How many bags of thinset, grout or self-leveler do you actually need? Pick your product, enter your area, and get an answer based on the manufacturer's published coverage figures.
What you'll find here
- Thinset mortar - coverage per bag by trowel size, for specific products.
- Grout - pounds or bags needed for your tile size, joint width and joint depth.
- Self-leveling underlayment - bags needed for your area and pour thickness.
The first product calculators are being checked against the manufacturers' technical data sheets and will appear here soon.
Why product-specific?
Generic calculators use one average coverage number for every brand. Real products differ: a large-and-heavy-tile mortar, a standard modified thinset and a rapid-setting mortar can cover noticeably different areas from the same bag size. Each calculator on this site uses the coverage table from that product's own technical data sheet and tells you which version and date the numbers come from.
How the numbers work
Every page shows the formula, the coverage table it uses, and a worked example, so you can check the result yourself. All calculations run in your browser; nothing you type is sent to a server.
